You are invited to take part in a “Make a Difference Day” at two local nature reserves on Saturday, October 25.
The event, organised jointly by North Somerset Council and the Mendip Society, will take place at Slader’s Leigh and the Strawberry Line at Shute Shelve, off the A38 at Winscombe.
The day will run from 10 am to 3 pm so come along and make a difference at these two important local nature reserves. Join in with coppicing to maintain a woodland edge rich in wildlife, hay raking to manage a limestone meadow and building handrails on steps to provide easier access.
All tools will be provided. Please bring strong footwear, waterproofs and a packed lunch. Drinks and baked potatoes from the wood fire will be provided.
Children over ten are welcome but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
There is parking at the National Trust car park at Kings Wood, off Winscombe Hill ( grid reference 422560).
Further details are available from Andy Mallender, Strawberry Line Heritage Trail Officer, on 01275 888538 or Judith Tranter from the Mendip Society on 01761 462276.
